Internet Download Manager is a download manager and speed accelerator, which can be integrated in the most popular browsers.
Currently, the most common browsers include his own download manager, which organizes downloaded files in right place. Those integrated manager usually are enough for many users. However, if we want more control over downloaded files and the organization, it is convenient to use a specialized program to manage the downloads we make when browsing the Internet.
Internet Download Manager is a download manager that has been on the market since 1999. Since then, this software has evolved and has been adapted to the new user's requirements, and also to new Windows operating systems. Being compatible with the latest version of Microsoft operating system, Windows 8.1.
The use of this application is very simple, since it can be integrated in any popular web browser: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc.; and it captures the downloads that are made from those browsers. We can also drag download link to the program's interface, and it will start the download immediately. More advanced users can make use of the “command-line” to download files. To do this, use the command IDMan.exe /d “http://domain.com/file_to_download.exe”.
A great advantage of using this software, is the ability to pause and resume downloads when we want to. This allows us to resume from the previous point if the download is interrupted by any circumstance. In addition, the program accelerates downloads by up to 5 times due to its system of “smart dynamic segmentation” files.
The graphical interface is very simple and allows us to organize our files in categories: Documents, music, video, programs, etc. The software organizes downloaded files automatically. Once we have downloaded the files, we can configure this program to scan the file with our favorite anti-virus or anti-spyware. In this way all the downloaded files will be automatically scanned without our intervention.
In case we want to download a large file, we have several possibilities if we don't want to colapse network's bandwidth. We can schedule the download to begin at a time where there is no one using Internet connection, or we can limit the download speed for that file, thus leaving free bandwidth to make other tasks on the Internet. If our Internet connection has a limit of Megabytes per hour, we can configure the program to fit this limit and don't exceed it.
The program is paid and offers a 30 days demo in which we can test all the functionality and features of the program.
