The exciting thing is that, unlike other simulators that do not take up too much space or consume many competitors, this one is well done, and it will not be easy for you to become an expert.

One of the positive features of VDrift is the vast number of cars among which we can choose ours, considering that they are not only many but also very similar to vehicles recognized worldwide in this segment. If you are a lover of racing cars, we do not doubt that you will quickly find one that represents you better than all the others.

It is attractive to see how not all cars are similar to each other, and in this way, you will be able to choose whether in your next race you want to enjoy the speed of a sports car or prefer the ease of a mini for specific complicated circuits. You will have to analyze everything according to the performance of each vehicle, as well as consider the characteristics of the track you will have to face next.

Something similar happens next when it is time to select the circuit where we will conduct the competitions, considering that some of the most famous circuits in the world are available. We can mention Monaco, Barcelona, Monza, or Spa Francorchamps, which have witnessed some of the most epic races and historic feats of professional drivers for years.

The simulation system of VDrift, meanwhile, is developed under license GNU and the truth is that it is very well achieved, responding to the car to the movements that we indicate, but also considering the physics that inevitably governs how much we can do and how much we can't do. Put another way, do not arrive with too much speed to the curves, or you can be sure you will continue along without remedy.

This game offers us two ways to enjoy it, the first is in practice or free race format, in which we will have to try to set the best possible time, and the second is competing in a multiplayer but local network system. That means that both computers will not only have to have it installed, but they will also have to be connected to the same Internet network to be able to face a friend.

As in the best driving simulation games, this one allows us to enjoy all our gamer accessories and peripherals to feel closer to reality. You can add all kinds of elements, such as joysticks, steering wheels, pedals, and others, so if you have any of them in your drawers, you better dust them off because soon you will be able to enjoy them to the fullest with this game.

As for the game interface, and beyond the graphical issues we have already pointed out, we must say that the menus are straightforward to interpret. We will not lose too much time before the races unless we want to customize everything. And you will see that you can change the color of the cars, as well as the type of wheels, the distance from the ground, and many other elements.

And once you have finished your races, you will find the Replay option in the main menu , thanks to which you can watch the development of your training or that competition with your colleague in detail, just like on TV. This is a classic replay format that is usually included in the best simulators in the world, and that, fortunately, has not been the exception in this case.

Before we leave that main menu, you will see an Updates option, or Updates, within which you can manually check if its developers have released new content or a renewed version of the game. We recommend that you look at it frequently since the title has been updated recently, and each new release further improves your user experience.

Finally, before summarizing VDrift, we have to say that although we have read comments about specific game bugs, forced shutdowns, or screen freezes, we didn't experience any of those inconveniences. On the contrary, it behaved stably in all kinds of situations, even when we tested it on a computer that was not specially prepared for gamer use.

Now, as a conclusion, we can say that although obviously, the graphic detail of this release does not reach the levels of others recognized worldwide, such as Gran Turismo, the truth is that the result is very positive for an open source development. VDrift has left us with excellent taste in our mouths, and if you are a racing simulator lover, we do not doubt that you will also know how to take advantage of it.
