Avidemux is a simple video editor that allows you to cut, apply filters, and encode video files.
Sometimes you need to remove some portion of your videos, or split a video into several parts. If you do this in a video editing software, you will have to render the cut video, and this will take more time than necessary. For example, imagine that you have recorded a gameplay of a game, and this gameplay lasts 1 hour. Now, you want to delete only the first 30 seconds of the video, in which you can see how you have launched the game, etc. If you eliminate these first 30 seconds with a video editing program, you will have to re-render the 1-hour video, which, if you do not have a very powerful computer, it may take several tens of minutes.
To avoid this, you have Avidemux, which will be able to eliminate the first 30 seconds of the video, and save the new video without having to render it, in such a way that in a few seconds you will have your new video cut, regardless of how long it is.
The user interface of this software is very simple, and is as easy as opening the video you want to edit, and select the output format of audio and video. If you choose "Copy", the software will not recode the video or audio. You can also choose the container of the video (avi, mkv, mp4, etc).
At the bottom you have some buttons that allow you to trim the video. The “A” button is used to mark the start of the cut, and the “B” button marks the end of the cut. In such a way that if you save the file (Ctrl+S), a new file will be saved, which will reach from the “A” cut until the “B” cut.
In addition to trimming and recoding the video files, you can also apply video and audio filters. Some of the video filters that can be applied are: add black borders, add logo, replace one section with black, dark edges, fade, rotate, see as ASCII code and more.
In case the sound is out of sync with the image, you can resynchronize it using the "Move sound" option. Also you will be able to resample the sound to a greater or lesser frequency.
The program is free and is translated into Spanish, which makes it ideal for making those simple cut-out editions that with any other software could take longer to do them.
