Spyware Doctor was a program that removes all types of Spyware and Malware from the computer.
This program ceased to receive support and updates on the 10th day of May, 2013, so at this moment it is not functional.
Despite the fact that we can download, install and run it, the program does not allow the removal of spyware unless we have a product key.
If we have a product key (license), we will be able to remove the detected threats, however, the program does not update malware database, so that we will be vulnerable to new threats.
If we do not have a product key (license), we can install demo version and try it, but we will not be able to eliminate any type of detected threat because the program requires a license that can no longer be purchased, so that the program will be totally useless.
We will briefly describe some of the characteristics of this program. Even so we recommend to use any available alternative to this program.
Spyware Doctor had a protection so-called “IntelliGuard”, which scan in real-time browser, cookies, emails, files, network, and Internet downloads. This system ensures an active protection without user intervention, as in case of detecting any type of threat, the program will prompt with a message about the detected threat and the danger degree of this threat.
PC Tools Spyware Doctor was developed by the security company Symantec, which decided to replace it (along with other PC Tools programs) with Norton Internet Security software.
As we have mentioned, the software can be downloaded and tested. When we run the installer, this will attempt to install a program that has nothing to do with the software that we are installing. When a window with title “OpenCandy” (it's called the program that tries to install unwanted software) is showed, we should select the option “I do Not Accept” and press “Next>”.
The installer will download almost 400 Megabytes from the Internet, so it is likely that the installation takes a few minutes to start.
